GOD IS LOVE "The Passion Play"

A LITTLE HISTORY:

 Since 2002, the LaVernia United Methodist Church has been presenting the passion play entitled, “God Is Love” every other year during the Easter season.  It was the vision of George Villegas and several members of LVUMC that a Christian musical drama was a good evangelistic tool to share the Good News of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice, death and resurrection and to share the story of Jesus’ ministry leading up to His last days.  This Easter passion play includes many character roles performed by men, women, and children and that also includes costumes, makeup, sound and lighting as well as much behind-the-scenes support. The average production crew and cast members that participate in the play total approximately 70 people.  George wrote the play and several of the songs; however, other artists’ songs were added to bring more dynamics to the play.  La Vernia United Methodist Church has many on-going ministries that take on many ways to help those in the community in an effort to further the Kingdom of God. The Easter passion play, “God Is Love” is another ministry that brings the Good News to others by way of singing, dancing, and character role portrayal.

PLAY PRESENTATION:

 This year, the “God Is Love” Ministry and its board members are presenting the Easter passion play on April 15, and 16, 2011 each night at 7:30 PM. The play will be at the Brand new LaVernia High School Auditorium on Hwy 775 across from the LV United Methodit Church.  The admission is free to all and we will also be acepting any canned goods to be donated to the LaVernia Food Pantry. So, be sure to mark your calendar and attend this wonderful and heart-felt Christian musical drama that will include some new actors, new scenes, new songs and some new choreography.
